Does your site use Data Integration (DI)? What EHR system do you have? And how has DI been beneficial?

  1. We use data integration for many CQIs (MSQC, MARCQI, MSSIC). Data integration is extremely helpful, especially when it comes to data entry of patient demographics, diagnosis codes, etc. Allocates more time for the abstractor to work on feedback that is impacting measure performance versus spending the time on data entry. It is extremely important that the data integration still allows the abstractor to change the response in the registry. We are on Cerner.

    • Do you know if there was a cost involved in getting data integration initiated in your system? If so, do you know what it was?

  2. We have OBIX and Meditech Expanse – they are not integrated. Depending on what data we are collecting individual chart reviewing may be the process.

  3. We use Cerner for our EHR. If I recall correctly, we were the first DI hospital? We had our IT department write a report that pulls patients in per the NTSV requirements and puts the required elements into a report for us. We then use that to compare to my daily census audit. Then I upload the data to the Arbor Metrix site. The list that gets pulled isn’t perfect, but it saves time from having to manually put in all of those elements. Also decreases the risk of a typo in name / DOB which is hard to catch when you’re typing.
