Our response rates are low and I am not sure what to do next. We have the QR code in every room, we give it to them in their admission folder and ask them to fill it out, we are reminding them when we take the baby for 24 lab work, we remind them prior to discharge, the physicians are asking them to complete it when they are rounding and our response rate is still low. What have others hospitals done that they have found helpful?
We added an incentive for nurses. Every time they have a patient complete the survey they can put their name into a monthly drawing for a prize. We also have it added to our discharge checklist and discharge instructions.
Covenant HealthCare has created badge buddies and stickers on all postpartum education folders. We completed our November Incentive with 57 responses and in December we are currently at 23 responses. Our team worked with IT to make this a part of the Mother Checklist which is viewed both in the patient doc flowsheet and discharge navigator – we had a 35% response rate in the beginning of November and then a brisk decline – keeping track allowed me to discuss with the Birth Center Leadership to improve compliance.
Nurses are discussing this at the 24 hr newborn tasks that are completed. Our response rate is low too.
We have ensured all patients receive the survey/QR code in their folder prior to discharge. This may be getting overlooked as our response rate is very low. We will be rolling out further education/scripting to nursing staff to ensure this is being done prior to pt leaving.
